RESEARCH INTERESTS
Lidia Tajber is a pharmacist by qualification and gained her M. Pharm. degree (with first class honours) from Medical University of Silesia, Katowice, Poland. Her Master’s thesis focussed on dielectric spectroscopy investigations of biotechnological materials utilised in transplantology. As a postgraduate visiting student in Trinity College Dublin, prior to her doctoral studies, she concentrated on spectroscopic studies of macromolecules, e.g. liquid crystalline materials. She holds a PhD degree entitled “Investigations of physicochemical properties of spray dried drug-excipient composites directed to inhalable products” in Pharmaceutical Technology from Trinity College Dublin.
Prior to her appointment as a full-time lecturer in Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology in 2007, she completed postdoctoral studies on the use of spray drying in the production of nanoporous microparticles. Her research interests involve two principal research themes: Preformulation and formulation aspects of solid pharmaceutical materials and Pharmaceutical systems at the nanoscale supported by Science Foundation Ireland, Enterprise Ireland, Irish Research Council, European Union and Trinity College. She has supervised (in past and at present) 16 PhD students, published 50 peer-review papers, contributed to around 70 international conference presentations and is also a co-inventor on a number of patent applications including “A method of producing porous microparticles” and “A polymeric nanoparticle”. She is currently involved in the Synthesis and Solid State Pharmaceuticals Centre (SSPC) pursuing research on advancing solid state formulations and pharmaceutical nanocrystals.
