The programme has now concluded for 2024. If you would like to register your interest to attend the next iteration of this course, please email the course coordinator.

This new Masterclass programme will look at the treatment of cancer with SACT. Two in-person Masterclasses will be offered; Masterclass 1 focusing on the Fundamentals of Cancer and Masterclass 2 focusing on the Treatment of Cancer with systemic anticancer therapy (SACT). The programme will give participants a well-rounded introduction to cancer and specifically the pharmaceutical treatment of cancer. In addition, the programme will give participants the tools to grow and enhance their confidence in understanding the use of SACT to treat cancer and supporting patients on treatment.

Each Masterclass will be a one-day event, with a light lunch included, held in Tangent, Trinity’s Ideas Workplace in the Trinity Business School. Attendees are expected to attend both days. Participation in this CPD course does not include access to the Trinity Library or any other student services (including a student ID card).

The programme will provide participants with a novel opportunity to meet and network with other pharmacy practitioners and healthcare practitioners (HCPs) from different sectors and will give a rounded view of the patient pathway through their treatment with SACT.

Who Should Apply?

Pharmacy practitioners in hospital, community or industry and HCPs including medical or scientific advisors in the pharmaceutical industry, who have no/ limited experience in oncology or who would like to refresh their knowledge in this field. This programme is ideal for anyone looking to up-skill and develop their knowledge to support patients with a cancer diagnosis.

Participants will receive a certificate of attendance at the conclusion of the Masterclass programme and participants will be encouraged to form a communication network for further peer support. Feedback provided from Masterclass attendees will help to inform the further direction of CPD provision and post gradute offerings in the clinical cancer space.

Who Teaches the Masterclass?

The masterclass will be taught by practitioners experienced in the treatment of cancer, including experienced members of the TSJCI team in St. James’ Hospital, with input from academics in the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
