RESEARCH INTERESTS

Carlos Medina is a Gastroenterologist who obtained his PhD in Medicine from the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona in 2004 studying new molecular targets on experimental colitis. He conducted post-doctoral studies funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Education at the Institute of Molecular Medicine, Texas Medical Center, Houston, focused on platelet-tumour cell interactions. In 2007, he was appointed as Lecturer of Pharmacology at TCD. Asst. Prof. Medina’s research interests are mainly focused on the identification and characterization of different molecular targets involved in both intestinal inflammation and colon cancer. His background provides him with expertise in many areas of Pharmaceutical Sciences, such as a molecular biology, molecular pharmacology and clinical pharmacology.
